All four biomass boilers went on line at the poultry unit at Launcherley this week, just in time for the new crop. Mr Hoddinott is consistently at the top of the Faccenda list, so he obviously knows his chickens. He says he had never seen chicks spread so quickly and evenly as they have with this new system. He is using three 75kw Climatec Heat-X units per house, running on our Eta Hack 200 biomass boilers.

In common with all the other poultry units we have worked on, everybody commented on how different the atmosphere was in the houses — it’s a much fresher smell without the kerosene fumes in the air.

The first week of the crop thoroughly tested the heating system. One night was the coldest of the winter — the combination of high winds, outside temperature in minus figures and brooding temperatures being required inside the 300′ x 80′ sheds made for a good trial. Needless to say, the biomass boilers and Climatec Heat-X units were up to the task. At the end of it Mr Hoddinott had his best ever first week weight results.
