Sleeps12.com is a unique holiday home rental business. The Somerset-based company offers guests detached houses in Somerset and Devon, each with six en-suite bedrooms and private indoor swimming pools. The luxury five star accommodation in stunning settings, ensures the houses are packed week in and week out, year round. This high occupancy in turn leads to high energy consumption, impacting upon the environment and the properties’ running costs.
Owner of Sleeps12, Ashley Vellacott – a former dairy farmer- knew it made sense to install a renewable, low carbon heat source. Running on pellets, the biomass boiler should turn a £15,000 a year cost into £25,600 RHI payment plus a £5,000 fuel saving.
Below is a photo of the biomass container in place awaiting over-cladding and landscaping.
The district heating main runs in a trench across the field to the next six bedroom house some 130m away. You can hardly see the line in the grass. By the end of the year it will be invisible.
